Controlled Asphalt Shingle Repairability Assessments
Fulcrum Field Services provides independent, assignment-specific asphalt shingle repairability assessment documentation for insurance carriers. Our service is designed for property claims where asphalt shingle repairability is being disputed, is unclear, or needs additional field documentation before the carrier makes or finalizes a claim.
A Focused Field Assessment for Repairability Questions
Fulcrum performs a limited, controlled asphalt shingle repairability assessment at one or more carrier-authorized assessment locations. At each authorized assessment location, Fulcrum may remove one target asphalt shingle and install one replacement asphalt shingle solely as part of the authorized assessment.

The purpose is to document what occurs during the target-shingle removal and replacement process, including observed shingle repair response characteristics and assessment-related observations directly associated with the authorized assessment location. Fulcrum’s role is not to decide a property claim. Fulcrum’s role is to document the authorized shingle repairability assessment and provide the completed report to the requesting carrier.
What Fulcrum May Document
Depending on the assignment and field conditions, Fulcrum may document:
– the authorized assessment location or locations
– the target-shingle removal and replacement process
– limited loosening, lifting, sealant-bond separation, temporary removal and/or reinstallation, re-securing, and/or hand-sealing of overlying or immediately surrounding shingles, if reasonably necessary
– observed seal release behavior
– observed mat transfer
– observed pliability
– observed granule loss
– observed tearing
– assessment-related response of immediately surrounding shingles or roofing materials
– nail and fastener conditions directly encountered during the authorized assessment process, if observed and relevant
– field conditions at the time of assessment
– photo and video documentation
– incomplete, delayed, stopped, or partially completed assessment circumstances, if applicable
– access, safety, weather, animal-related, or third-party conditions that affect completion of the authorized assessment, if applicable
Why Surrounding Shingles Are Involved
Asphalt shingle replacement will require limited manipulation of overlying or immediately surrounding shingles to access fasteners and complete the target-shingle removal and replacement process. When reasonably necessary, Fulcrum willll loosen, lift, separate sealant bonds, re-secure, and/or hand-seal overlying or immediately surrounding shingles.

This work is limited to what is reasonably necessary to:
– access fasteners
– perform the target-shingle removal and replacement process
– document the authorized assessment
– return the assessment location to approximate pre-assessment condition, to the extent feasible

This limited work is part of the carrier's authorized assessment. It is not a broader roof repair service, roof maintenance service, waterproofing service, or warranted.

Fulcrum Field Services does not provide:
– roof inspections
– roof condition assessments
– engineering analysis
– causation analysis
– coverage analysis
– policy interpretation
– claim handling
– adjusting services
– appraisal services
– contractor advocacy
– repair estimates
– repair recommendations
– replacement recommendations
– workmanship evaluations
– installation inspections
– installation-defect opinions
– code-compliance evaluations
– roof-wide fastening assessments
– system-wide roof conclusions
– warranties, guarantees, or future-performance certifications

Fulcrum does not determine whether a roof should be repaired or replaced, nor does Fulcrum decide claim coverage or handle the claim in any manner.
Carrier-Requested Slopes
A carrier may identify a requested roof slope or slopes for assignment coordination and assessment planning.

Fulcrum may consider the carrier-requested slope information, but final assessment location selection is made by Fulcrum on site based on access, safety, field conditions, and the limited purpose of the authorized assignment.

Fulcrum does not accept outcome-driven instruction to assess a specific shingle, specific roof area, or location selected to create a predetermined outcome.

Fulcrum will not perform an asphalt shingle repairability assessment on any roof slope identified by the carrier as already approved or paid for replacement.
A carrier may identify a requested roof slope or slopes for assignment coordination and assessment planning.

Assessment Results Are Location-Specific
Fulcrum’s observations are limited to the authorized assessment location or locations actually assessed.

Observed shingle characteristics, sealant-bond behavior, pliability, fastening conditions directly encountered during the authorized assessment process, installation-related conditions directly encountered during the authorized assessment process, weathering, exposure, and repair response characteristics may vary between roof slopes, roof areas, shingle courses, and individual shingles, including shingles located on the same roof slope.

Fulcrum’s observations are limited to the authorized assessment location or locations actually assessed and should not be interpreted as a condition assessment, roof inspection, or conclusion regarding any roof slope, roof area, shingle course, individual shingle, or roofing material not specifically assessed.
